CSA - Community Supported Agriculture

What is a CSA? For over 25 years, Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) has become a popular way for consumers to buy local, seasonal food directly from a farmer.

Here are the basics: a farmer offers a certain number of "shares" to the public. Typically the share consists of a box of vegetables, but other farm products may be included. Interested consumers purchase a share (aka a "membership" or a "subscription") and in return receive a box (bag, basket) of seasonal produce each week throughout the farming season.

Seldom home farm is offering memberships that are drastically different than a typical CSA as described above. We are offering a CSA Promissory Card. It is similar to a typical CSA that consumers purchase a card and in return you will receive the amount you paid for the card plus an additional percentage of return on the investment of card depending on when the card is purchased.

You’ll save some money. Most importantly, you help your local farmer by helping foot part of the bills upfront in the beginning of the new season. This pre-payment allows us to order seeds, pay fees, pay for our Urbana market spaces, start the many transplants, repair equipment and start paying our employees before we start receiving revenue in May. It’s a financial, environmental and community investment. Your pledge to support local food helps keep money within our community. 11. Can be used for u-pick products.
12. Can be used for flowers.
13. Can be used for baked items at SHF at the Urbana Market.
14. Use at your own convenience.
15. Can be used during the spring, summer or fall.
16. Purchase as much or little at a time.
17. Transferable at any time. Need not be present to use. Great if you have someone else doing your errands for you.
